En exklusiv motorcykel med känslomässigt stark betydelse har nyligen sålts för ett imponerande belopp på auktion: en Ducati Desmosedici GP8 i den ikoniska ”Stars and Stripes”-designen, skapad till ära för Nicky Hayden, klubbades för 288 000 dollar (cirka 2,5 miljoner kronor).
Motorcykeln hyllar MotoGP-världsmästaren från 2006, som tragiskt gick bort 2017, och bär samma lackering som Hayden använde under testkörningar i slutet av säsongen 2008.
Den aktuella motorcykeln är byggd med komponenter från modellerna Desmosedici GP7 och GP8 och togs direkt ur Ducati Corse-fabriksstalls inventarier i februari 2010. Det handlar alltså inte om en produktionsmodell, utan om äkta MotoGP-teknologi – samma typ av maskin som användes på racebanor världen över för cirka 17 år sedan.
Försäljningspriset speglar både den enorma samlarpassionen och den känslomässiga betydelse som är förknippad med Nicky Haydens namn.
